How To Do A Flat Twist On Natural Hair

Looking for a quick, easy and yet elegant hairstyle? The flat twist is the real deal. This is way much easier than cornrows. This super-versatile look can be done to fit anyone and any occasion. Flat twists look great on children, adults, men, and women and can just as easily be made into a super-chic updo or halo.

Here is a simple tutorial by Glory O Kings on how to achieve the perfect flat twist. What I love most about this tutorial is that its beginner-friendly. So, even if you have never done a twist in your life, you can still achieve a flat twist using this tutorial.

Don’t worry if you don’t get it the first time, just keep practicing and you would perfect it with time.

What you need

  • A wide toothed comb for detangling
  • A rat tail comb for demarcation
  • Moisturizer
  • Oil
  • Curl pudding or gel (optional)

The Process

You can start on a freshly washed hair or a dirty hair. It doesn’t really matter. Using a rat tail comb, cut your hair into a small section. Its better to work in small sections when learning to flat twist.

Next is to detangle with a wide toothed comb and apply your moisturizer, oil or curl pudding. The fingers you would be working with are your right index finger, middle finger and thumb.

You then start by grabbing a little section as illustrated in the video and using your right index finger to pick even sections as you work all the way down to the ends.

Its a really easy style to do and I believe this video is very explanatory.
